coffee in Austin. April 1, 2008

i simply can't make it past 11am without at least one cup of coffee. i depend on the bean - and i don't mind. it's a hobby for me now. i've been home roasting coffee since July 2003, ever since a chat over lunch with some friends prompted me to place an order for some green beans and start my search at the thrift stores for a hot air popcorn popper. since that first sip of my own roast, i've never looked back. i've learned a lot about coffee and i owe it all mostly to Sweet Maria's. i've yet to find a better site for learing about (Tom doesn't fool around!) and buying coffee beans. it's very clear to me that the owner's have coffee in their hearts.

okay - so where's all this coffee talk going? well, i've decided to start working on a casual but detailed guide to coffee in Austin. i've started gathering a list of names and locations and am finding out there are more shops here than i thought. it'll take some time to organize. i want to provide information that will get you to the shop with the atmosphere you want along with (much more importantly) the best cup-o-joe.

stay tuned.

the sweet, sweet stuff. December 5, 2007

after owning this domain name for 5 years now i figured it was about time to make something of it. i am currently battling (read: learning) some CSS and playing with layers as well. it's been a couple of years since i've dabbled in Dreamweaver, so i expect it will take some time for us to become friends again. i plan on having sections for music, food, toys & games, and photography. in the meantime, enjoy the holiday season. snow please!

41 year-old pancakes. December 2, 2007

yep, it's true. we had 41 year-old pancakes on sunday. it was the first time in my entire life i cooked pancakes. using a traditional mix (milk, eggs, oil vs. just water) and some patience, i whipped out some killer 'cakes - 'cakes that could challenge any breakfast diner around. after applying the mandatory slathering of real butter and maple syrup, i thought to myself: "why did i wait so long?". all that was missing was the bacon.

my brother got a motorcycle. i got a motorcycle. my brother got a digital camera. i got a digital camera. it just works like that. i've been playing with my Nikon D70s for a couple of years now. my pics are posted at flickr. a fun place to play when you run out of places to browse. it happens.
